Great article, Don. What an interesting topic! These statistics are staggering and sobering, to say the least. It's clear that something must be done to solve the loneliness problem, but I wonder if more startups aren't entering this arena because it is such a little understood category. While the numbers speak for themselves, the loneliness issue seems almost more taboo than the larger umbrella category of mental health (which is only recently being destigmatized via apps such as TalkSpace, Cao, and BetterHealth). We need more articles like this in the public forum to continue the public conversation around the issue. After reading your post, it's clear that loneliness is more than just a business opportunity, but rather a societal and economic problem that needs to be addressed ASAP.
